From the message: Starting from version lxc-1.1.0-r3, the default lxc path has been moved from /etc/lxc to /var/lib/lxc. If you still want to use /etc/lxc please add the following to your /etc/lxc/default.conf lxc.lxcpath = /etc/lxc But the correct file to edit is /etc/lxc/lxc.conf since only that one changes the output of lxc-config. This looks very similar to bug 573116, but that was marked INVALID stating the issue was obsolete as of 2.0.1. I don't have permission to reopen the old bug, but feel free to reopen that and mark this as a duplicate if that makes more sense.
