The TTF version is hinted and intended for screens. From https://github.com/chrissimpkins/Hack/blob/master/docs/INSTALLATION.md. "We recommend that you use the TTF files as the default for general purpose screen use." The OTF version is not as well hinted and looks blurry at small sizes. It is an open issue: https://github.com/chrissimpkins/Hack/issues/206 The developer says in https://github.com/chrissimpkins/Hack/issues/56: "For now, we are working to make a solid set of ttf builds and will then turn our attention to the otf builds. There are lots of reasons for this, but the primary one is that I have a great deal more flexibility and control over the ttf hints at the moment and this has been a critical issue for screen use at small text sizes." Arch, Ubuntu, and the Hack Windows installer all distribute the TTF version, not OTF: https://git.archlinux.org/svntogit/packages.git/tree/trunk/PKGBUILD?h=packages/ttf-hack http://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial/fonts-hack-ttf https://github.com/source-foundry/Hack-windows-installer/releases/tag/1.2.0 Please update the Gentoo version to use TTF. Thanks!
