As discovered in bug 599990, this icon set is the place for pulling the mime extra icons. It's assumed that it's still used even after migration to adwaita-icon-themes as all this icons won't be added to the main package ever. Supposedly it's maintained by the same guys, but the haven't made new releases for a long time and, hence, it's still names "gnome-icon-theme" https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=330235#c9 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=309324 After that, I noticed most people won't ever notice this package exists to provide missing icons for iso images and other stuff... then, I was wondering if maybe we could pull in from some meta to get a better "experience" from our users (getting dedicated icons by default instead of "plain text" one) What do you think?
We could maybe take advantage of the Gnome 3.22 bump for updating the metas before stabilizing them :/
OK with finally adding this?
Maybe for next version :/
