Comment 4 Michael Palimaka (kensington) gentoo-dev 2016-10-26 13:39:01 UTC
It looks like an AppArmor automagic. I'd disable it unconditionally, as instead of just building support it appears to be attempting to interface with it at build time.

Comment 14 Conrad Kostecki gentoo-dev 2018-06-20 15:18:01 UTC
So what I see, this only happens, when sys-apps/apparmor is installed.
It runs /sbin/apparmor_parser, to get a test on pulseaudio.

On my system, which don't have AppArmor, running /sbin/apparmor_parser gives:
Cache read/write disabled: interface file missing. (Kernel needs AppArmor 2.4 compatibility patch.)
Warning: unable to find a suitable fs in /proc/mounts, is it mounted?
Use --subdomainfs to override.
It's the same message, as in the error.

Looking into the Arch Wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/AppArmor, I would say, this maybe would not fail, when the kernel will have enabled AppArmor:

CONFIG_SECURITY_APPARMOR=y
CONFIG_SECURITY_APPARMOR_BOOTPARAM_VALUE=1
CONFIG_DEFAULT_SECURITY_APPARMOR=y
CONFIG_AUDIT=y

I assume, this testbox here don't have this enabled? Since I don't have Apparmor to test, I see two options:

1) As described in Comment #4, patch disable this.
2) Make a new use flag apparmor and check for this kernel options.

What do you think?
Comment 15 Conrad Kostecki gentoo-dev 2018-06-20 21:48:58 UTC
I talked to upstream, they are looking into it.
Comment 16 Conrad Kostecki gentoo-dev 2018-06-21 11:55:57 UTC
Fixed up stream. Will bump with 0.09.31, which should release in a couple of days.

0.09.31 is out. Filled a PR.
