The current klibc 2.0.4 is nearly 2 years old. Though there haven't been any releases, there has been some development. Perhaps the git snapshot would take care of some outstanding klibc bugs. I have found that the git snapshot fixes at least bug 556142.
A live (-9999) ebuild would also work for this. git-snapshot and git-r3 eclasses are your friend.
are you willing to proxy maintain this?
Patrick has been into IRC #g-dev-help and is proposing to take this and distcc on.

I wrote ebuild for the latest git snapshot of klibc at this time. I should exclude debian patches because some of them can not be applied.
