Using gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.7-r9 my iRiver iFP-190 is not recognised as a mass storage device (no dev node/sysfs path appears when i plug it in). The forum thread below appears to suggest this affects all iRiver portables in the range. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge/build kernel 2.6 with support for mass-storage 2. plug in iFP-190 3. Actual Results: nothing Expected Results: Created a /dev node and sysfs entry There is a thread with patch here http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=126919&highlight=iriver Portage 2.0.50-r9 (default-x86-2004.0, gcc-3.3.3, glibc-2.3.3.20040420-r0, 2.6.7-gentoo-r9) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.7-gentoo-r9 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2000+ Gentoo Base System version 1.4.16 distcc 2.13 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] ccache version 2.3 [enabled] Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.59-r4 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.8.5 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O3 -march=athlon-xp -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /etc/tomcat /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O3 -march=athlon-xp -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs ccache prelink sandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://194.83.57.7/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/ http://212.219.56.152/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/ http://194.83.57.3/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/ http://194.83.57.15/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/ http://194.83.57.2/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="3dnow X aalib aim alsa apm arts avi berkdb cdr crypt cups directfb doc dvd encode esd fbcon flash foomaticdb gd gdbm gif gmp gpm gtk gtk+ gtk2 imlib jabber java javascript jpeg kde ldap libg++ libwww linguas_en_GB mad mikmod mmx motif mpeg msn mysql ncurses net-www/apache:threads nls oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl png postgres ppds python qt quicktime readline scanner sdl slang spell sse ssl svga tcltk tcpd tiff truetype usb video_cards_radeon x86 xml xml2 xmms xv yahoo zlib"
This is a problem with the main kernel, not the gentoo kernel. Can you please file a bug upstream at bugzilla.kernel.org for this, as there is nothing we can do here.
