Description sebB 2015-05-28 19:17:31 UTC
Please reintroduce sigil-0.6.2 in tree

Using stable gentoo amd64.
Today sigil 0.6.2 was removed from tree (depends qt4).
Like Qt5 is not stable, I've to unmask qt5 to install sigil 0.8...

Reproducible: Always

Assigning this to mrueg since removing 0.6.2 was his decision:

Comment 3 Manuel Rüger (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2015-05-28 22:10:12 UTC
Assigning to tomboy as it is his package.

I dropped 0.62 as it was released in 2012 and the qt4 branch does not see any updates. It was not marked stable, so dropping it should not be a problem at all.
Sooner or later you'll have to move toward qt5. I recommend this as the package saw a lot of fixes since 2012 [1] and we won't keep qt4 forever.

Comment 4 M. B. 2015-05-29 06:26:02 UTC
I introduced Sigil 0.7 into the tree precisely to get rid of 0.6. Apart from that, Manuel's comment is valid: Sigil 0.6 is horribly stale.

So bite the bullet and start using Qt5 (which is quite usable).

Look at the deps of this to see how "unstable" qt5 really is: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=543326

If you really must have it, put it in your own overlay. https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:Parts/Portage/CustomTree#Adding_unofficial_ebuilds
