I installed beep-media-player because xmms was crapping out on me and I was sick of messing with it (sorry, no bug report for that one...) I liked using xmms-alarm and wanted to add that functionality to bmp. I noticed the package on the website and decided that I wanted to try to install it through portage instead of manually. So I made an ebuild and did my best to compare it against the common mistakes. This is my first gentoo bug, so I'm a bit nervous. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Can't find the place to attach the ebuild...
Created attachment 33803 [details] Ebuid for xmms-alarm-bmp I really hope I did this right. Be nice, this is my first bug report.
Re-assigned the bug to the gentoo sound team for verification. If all goes well, the ebuild will be tested then added to portage.
blocking tracker bug... we need a better way to do this...
Would be great to see this in Portage! :o)
Created attachment 43876 [details] bmp-alarm-0.6.0.ebuild This is how I would ebuild this package. However, I have tested the package, and it's broken, at least for me. The "This is your wakeup call" popup window appears, but closes itself within a few seconds. The plugin now can not be closed, and seems to go haywire. Do feel free to add this ebuild to your overlay (a directory like /usr/local/portage, add it to your /etc/make.conf as PORTDIR_OVERLAY=/usr/local/portage) and test the package. I am interested in the emerge info of anyone who does *not* see the popup window bug I just described.
Ebuild feedback; please clear the header out so it reads: # $Header: $ Your use of MY_P for this package is indeed right, but see how I scripted it. That way, you can just rename the ebuild file to bmp-alarm-0.7.0.ebuild and it will work (when that version comes out, anyway). I just noticed that the ebuild I attached isn't perfect yet, so, here goes the corrected one...
Created attachment 43877 [details] bmp-alarm-0.6.0.ebuild Corrected bmp-alarm ebuild.
In fact, the original website offers a bmp-alarm-0.6.0 file online, so removed use of MY_P altogether. Setting this to a TEST-REQUEST for now. I can build this package, but I can't use it as intended.
