The ebuild advises the user to do # rc-update add system-tools-backends default after installing, and even ships an init script in its $FILESDIR, however this init script isn't actually installed by the ebuild. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge app-admin/system-tools-backends-2.10.2 2. read postinst text about rc-update adding init script 3. try to "rc-update add system-tools-backends default" 4. observe message: * rc-update: service `system-tools-backends' does not exist
I think this should have been removed with Gnome 2.
We couldn't kill it as, if I don't misremember, some stuff from MATE needs it :S
(In reply to Pacho Ramos from comment #2) > We couldn't kill it as, if I don't misremember, some stuff from MATE needs > it :S lxqt-admin does as well (via liboobs).

@lxqt, lxqt-admin-0.11.0 drops the liboobs dependency so what about treecleaning dev-libs/liboobs and app-admin/system-tools-backends or at least drop it to maintainer-needed?
