Description Daryl Stimm 2002-07-21 18:42:16 UTC
Hello,

I use xawtv every day in my system, there is a couple a problems that I have
found with the ebuilds. If I have xawtv-0.73 installed It doesnt work
correctly in kde, gnome or waimea, it works fine in Windowmaker and fluxbox.
The problem is when you resize the window, it starts to flicker and makes xawtv
unbarable to use. Also xawtv-0.73 has problems when changing channels, for
example it flickers, and this creates a lag when changing channels. I fixed the
flicker problem by making my own ebuild and using xawtv-3.65. So xawtv-3.65
works perfectly in WindowMaker but still flickers when in kde3, gnome2 and
waimea. I wanted to see if this problem was only with gentoo so I tried
Slackware 8.1 and Redhat Beta Limbo (7.3.92), both worked fine. Can anyone
look into this? here is a link to my .xawtv file and my xawtv-0.65 ebuild. thanks.

I use xawtv version 3.76 (latest version) and in fullscreen mode I do not have
the problem you describe. Besides some minor issues, it is fine. Could you check
if your problem still occurs with version 3.76 of xawtv?

Try using overlay mode in Xawtv (~/.xawtv):
[defaults]
capture = overlay

Then load Xvideo in X with the following your /etc/X11/XF86Config:
Section "Module"
Load "v4l"

This fixed a similar problem for me. Its worth a shot.

John, yeah thats how I fixed it too, but I hate overlay because I cant streach
the image and I cant take screenshots. Oh well...
