Comment 3 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2014-06-05 16:51:33 UTC
are you able to reproduce when manually running tests when manually compiling?
Comment 4 eroen 2014-06-25 11:07:39 UTC
`./configure; make; make check;` in the extracted glib-2.40.0 tarball shows two different failures. Note that the reported test failures are not present unless glib is built for ABI_X86=32, there are no test failures for native ABI.

When exporting CC="cc -m32" and CXX="cxx -m32" beforehand, both the above 'date' tests and the reported 'timer' tests fail.

Then, please report it to upstream directly and post the link here to let us track: bugzilla.gnome.org

glib-2.42.2 fails timer test for ABI_X86=32

I can confirm the bug for =dev-libs/glib-2.42.2 also with ABI_X86="64 32" using GCC 4.9.3 as compiler.
I couldn't find the upstreamed bug on the gnome bugzilla. Should I submit it?
Comment 7 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2015-07-13 20:30:04 UTC
That would be nice, thanks :)
Comment 8 Fabio Scaccabarozzi 2015-07-18 10:48:40 UTC
I re-checked the gnome bugzilla before submitting and I actually found the bug: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=722604
Sorry I didn't find it earlier, it was hidden behind the "Various tests are failing with 2.39.3" subject.
Timer has been a known failure for a long time due to GCC not evaluating the proper rounding of floats. See latest devs messages for workarounds. Probably this will never be fixed properly it seems.

Of the workarounds proposed on the upstream bug:
- -std=c99 fails to build the package with gcc-4.9.3 (gbitlock.c:320:3: error: 'asm' undeclared (first use in this function), not the only one)
- -fexcess-precision=standard does not work with gcc-4.9.3 (test "timer" still fails)

For further info: "timer" test passes on clang-3.6.1 (std=c99 fails to build, fexcess-precision is not supported). Clang fails on "signals" though, I will file another bug for that.
Comment 9 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2016-02-28 11:54:46 UTC
More broken tests skipped in -r2 until upstream really cares about their awful testsuite (I really hate when tests only serve the purpose or adding us more work instead of really making their job :@)
