Build log of www-client/chromium

Emerging chromium failed in configuration phase,
saying:
---
Package opus was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `opus.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'opus' found
---

I re-emerged media-libs/opus.
However, there is no opus.pc in both /usr/lib/pkgconfig
and /usr/share/pkgconfig.

There were no errors while emerging opus
but it seemed to fail in installing phase as the following:
---
>>> Install opus-1.0.3 into /var/tmp/portage/media-libs/opus-1.0.3/image/ category media-libs
/var/tmp/portage/media-libs/opus-1.0.3/temp/environment: line 2835: /dev/fd/62: No such file or directory
>>> Completed installing opus-1.0.3 into /var/tmp/portage/media-libs/opus-1.0.3/image/

/usr/lib/portage/bin/ebuild-helpers/prepstrip: line 292: /dev/fd/62: No such file or directory

Could you attach the entire build log for media-libs/opus, please?

Did media-libs/opus install anything? Please post the output of "equery files opus".

Gentoo Sound Team, I think in this bug we have a case of broken opus install, not sure what's happening.
Comment 4 Hiroshi Takenaka 2013-10-18 12:21:38 UTC
Nothing seems to be installed by opus.

> Nothing seems to be installed by opus.

It's not a chromium bug then. The real bug is opus doesn't install any files on your system.
Comment 6 Hiroshi Takenaka 2013-10-19 08:47:11 UTC
This bugzilla is assigned to chromium@gentoo.org.
However, it has got clear that the essential problem is media-libs/opus.
I would like to change the relvant componet to Library.

The emerge -pqv media-lib/opys is as follows:
-----
[ebuild R ] media-libs/opus-1.0.3 USE="-custom-modes -doc -static-libs"
-----

Regards,

I just installed opus-1.0.3 and can *not* confirm this problem. Is this still an issue?

Comment 8 Paweł Stankowski 2014-11-12 21:39:27 UTC
Could anyone confirm this is a bug or close it otherwise?

From build log the only error I can see is the following:
/var/tmp/portage/media-libs/opus-1.0.3/temp/environment: line 2835: /dev/fd/62: No such file or directory

It suggests problems with udev. I found out that Hiroshi has 'udev' use flag disabled globally. Can opus build be broken because of that?

I've found similar bug on forum: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-929628-view-next.html?sid=7f0ee3c3836121bc76f37f99d38082cd

Hiroshi, could you try to add udev use flag to your system and re-send your log file?

> Could anyone confirm this is a bug or close it otherwise?

Well, I did add myself to the CC list because I had the same problem.
But since then, opus-1.1 came out, and that one definitely does install files.
And since some of my packages require at least 1.1, I can’t test 1.0.3 anymore.
So from my point of view this has become WORKSFORME.
Comment 10 Ben de Groot (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2015-04-19 06:28:11 UTC
Please re-open if this is an issue for version 1.1.
