Description Scott Testerman 2004-04-07 19:00:30 UTC
While performing "emerge system," process stops because "iptutils-ss020927-try.tar.bz2" is no longer available on any mirror. The listed home site, "ftp://ftp.inr.ac.ru/ip-routing/" also no longer exists (the server is available, but the path is gone). No alternate sites appear to be available for this package, nor for the ~x86 masked version.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge system
2.
3.

Actual Results:
"ERROR 404: Not Found" at all mirrors

Expected Results:
Download and install iputils-ss020927-try.tar.bz2

That doesn't help at all, it doesn't have the file he asked for...
Comment 3 Steven Bartz 2004-04-08 00:27:05 UTC
Found a solution

emerge-webrsync

worked for me.
Comment 4 Kai Ruhnau 2004-04-08 00:41:01 UTC
Another dirty solution for me was to change the ebuild for iputils-021109-r2 to have KEYWORDS="x86 ...". Otherwise emerge system wanted to downgrade the package after I manually installed it.
I don't want to have a full ~x86-system, so ACCEPT_KEYWORDS is no option.

HTH

This ebuild doesn't work now...but it's the only stable version on most of the architectures, and it's necessary for emerge system.
It should be removed soon, and the newer ebuilds mark as stable. The submitter should also increase severity to "blocker" and raise priority, because you can't install an system now with that ebuild.

For now, if you don't want to build the whole system as ~arch you can create /etc/portage/package.keywords and write
net-misc/iptutils ~x86
in it (for a x86 system)
Comment 6 Frank Dörfler 2004-04-08 01:50:02 UTC
oh i mean, write
net-misc/iputils ~x86
in it

Stealing, I'll take care of this.

Twas a typo in the 020927 ebuild, apparently the URL for 021109's download location wound up in 020927's SRC_URI, which wouldn't work. It's fixed in CVS now. Gonna resolve this as FIXED; reopen if for whatever reason it becomes unfixed.
