Does Jemalloc 3.3.0 work for you? If no, what's the lowest working version?

Thanks for reporting.
Comment 3 Matthew Dawson 2013-04-18 14:44:22 UTC
I upgraded jemalloc from 2.2.5-r1 to 3.3.1 with redis already installed. After upgrading, redis no longer starts, with the message:
redis-server: symbol lookup error: redis-server: undefined symbol: jmalloc

It appears in the 3.3.1 ebuild, the configure line no long includes: --with-jemalloc-prefix=j, which cause the above error message. Recompiling jemalloc with that configure flag allows redis to restart, however, redis will not recompile, with the same error message.

Installing the latest version of redis in the tree (version 2.6.9) seems to work with jemalloc, regardless of whether the configure flag is passed.

This is correct. The redis-bundled jemalloc was updated to 3.2.0 in redis 2.4.18. 2.4.10 needs to dep < jemalloc-3.2 (when jemalloc maintainers in gentoo removed the prefix). I'd also suggest that 2.4.18 - or rather - latest 2.6 series is stablereq:ed since that's what upstream suggests.
Comment 5 Johan Bergström 2013-04-21 23:08:04 UTC
Other maintainers: I'd like to STABLEREQ 2.6.9. As for 2.4.10 - I'd like to force a lower jemalloc dep (2.2.5-r1). Thoughts?
Comment 6 Dirkjan Ochtman (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2013-04-22 06:40:52 UTC
Definitely +1 on STABLEREQing 2.6.9. Lower jemalloc dep for 2.4.10 is also fine with me (though might be mostly moot after stabling 2.6.9?).

The 2.4.10 bump was more of a safety-measure in case of STABLEREQ taking too long. Since its basically x86/amd64 we should be fine though?

(Also, see bug 457002 for 2.6.12 bump)

Stabilisation here: bug 466934.
Comment 9 Johan Bergström 2013-04-26 04:32:41 UTC
"Fixed" on your next emerge --sync with the additional bonus of moving to redis 2.6.
