Description PM 2012-11-04 18:41:14 UTC
I have sys-fs/exfat-utils-0.9.8 and sys-fs/fuse-exfat-0.9.8-r1 installed. I can mount the drive manually using the 'mount' command:

# mount /dev/sdc1 /mnt/usbstick/
FUSE exfat 0.9.8
# mount
(...)
/dev/sdc1 on /mnt/usbstick type fuseblk (rw,nosuid,nodev,allow_other,blksize=4096)

Yet if I try to tell Dolphin to mount the device, it responds:

An error occurred while accessing '16gigowiec', the system responded: Żądana operacja zakończona niepowodzeniem.: Requested filesystem type is neither well-known nor in /proc/filesystems nor in /etc/filesystems

I have added the line "exfat" to /etc/filesystems, but it didn't help.

This is a recent breakage, as I remember it used to work a couple of months ago.

Both UDisks1 and UDisks2 already have exfat listed internally as well known file system.

sys-fs/udisks:0 says:

src/device.c: "exfat",

sys-fs/udisks:2 says:

src/udiskslinuxfilesystem.c: "exfat",

Does 'gvfs-mount' work from command-line? Requires sys-fs/gvfs built with USE="udev udisks -gdu fuse" for UDisks2 support and USE="udev -udisks gdu fuse" for UDisks1.

I don't know what kind of FUSE layer KDE has in it's handling of them, but right now looking, this seems to be a bug in it, or lack of the layer entirely :P

Does changing "exfat-fuse" to "exfat_fuse" in 99-exfat.rules change anything?
Or possibly flipping the order of the ENV's?

Does adding 'fuseblk' to /etc/filesystems help?

Do a bit more digging before filing the bug, so I don't have to ask for these basics just to determine who gets the bug :P
Comment 2 PM 2012-11-05 12:38:53 UTC
I found a solution: instead of "exfat" I added "exfat-fuse" to /etc/filesystems.

I still consider this a bug, IMHO it should work out of the box without any workarounds.

Please recompile your kdelibs in a way it uses sys-fs/udisks:2 instead of the dead sys-fs/udisks:0. We have bug 424157 for that. It's overdue anyway.

And use at least >=1.0.0 of fuse-exfat/exfat-utils. I think I had bad udev rules being installed.

>And use at least >=1.0.0 of fuse-exfat/exfat-utils.

The tree only has 0.9.8.

It has 1.0.0 but the mirrors take a while to catch up. Try again in hour or two.

Do you still have this problem?
