Looks like gvfs wants it... regarding bug 417629 looks like there are still some problems when old slot is removed, if both are present, things looks to still work Reproducible: Always
targets/desktop/ has version specific package.use.mask entry for gvfs so that with >= 1.12 it defaults to USE=udisks (udidks2) instead of USE=gdu (udisks1) last we discussed this at #gentoo-desktop the consensus was to wait for final release of udisks2 before moving this from ~arch to arch so sure, stabilization is okay'ish long as gnome@ is fine with it, btw, notice how you are the only person in bug 417629 and it's not moving anywhere?
(In reply to comment #1) I've been using udisks2 for a few months and haven't had problems with it; so OK from me personally, but for others it would be nice to solve #417629 first.
The point of that bug report is that it affects gnome2 when old udisks:0 is depcleaned, not when both are installed, that is the most common situation as there are many :0 slot consumers in the tree

newer udev is needed to get automounting working properly as discussed in bug 417629 and https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=52357 arches should be readded when they are added to udev stabilization bug
Depends on bug 411627 since we need >= 180 of sys-fs/udev
Arch's are now CC'd to the udev stabilization bug. You can do this after udev-197-r2 is stable. Thank you!
