the wxGTK build system is completely brain dead when it comes to -lGL ... AC_MSG_CHECKING([for -lGL]) WX_PATH_FIND_LIBRARIES([$SEARCH_LIB /opt/graphics/OpenGL/lib],GL) if test "$ac_find_libraries" != "" ; then AC_MSG_RESULT([found in $ac_find_libraries]) ... and WX_PATH_FIND_LIBRARIES turns around and does `test -e` on hardcoded paths which obviously fails badly when cross-compiling or using libdirs that they haven't explicitly written for. this should be a simple link test for -lGL. seems to be similar failures when it comes to searching for headers (the WX_PATH_FIND_INCLUDES brokenness).
hmm, along similar lines, i don't think we should let the configure script auto-discover wx_cv_std_libpath. it currently gets it wrong anyways -- it should be treating it like a cache value, not something it should always be setting up. i've made this modification to the ebuild: - -e "/wx_cv_std_libpath/s: /usr: ${EPREFIX}/usr:g" \ + -e "/wx_cv_std_libpath=/s:=.*:=$(get_libdir):" \ http://sources.gentoo.org/x11-libs/wxGTK/wxGTK-2.8.12.1.ebuild?r1=1.12&r2=1.13 then once upstream converts to a proper cache value, we'd just do: export wx_cv_std_libpath=$(get_libdir) #421851 fixing that bug alone makes the opengl search paths "work" for native builds, but they're still very wrong and will fail when cross-compiling.
Thanks. Doubt upstream will change anything, I've complained about their hardcoded values before to no effect. You probably broke prefix again but that happens about twice a month. (see bug #394123, bug #407367, bug #420247)...
Still running into this when trying to update world. Any reason this hasn't been fixed?

This fixe have been lost during last commit http://sources.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/gentoo-x86/x11-libs/wxGTK/wxGTK-2.8.12.1.ebuild?r1=1.14&r2=1.15
Thanks for tracking that down. Fixed in 2.8.12.1-r1.
