I found this ebuild and thought of filing a bug for the broken link too! Suggestion: Link to wayback machine? https://web.archive.org/web/20070610035741/https://dev.gentoo.org/~josejx/Xorgautoconfig.html Seems like this utility hasn't been updated since 2006. I'm not sure how useful it will be with the new Xorg that only uses KMS.
Yep, I strongly suspect it should just be removed.
