Hmmm, what Portage version are you using? I can't reproduce this, and I think I fixed this before.
(In reply to comment #1) > Hmmm, what Portage version are you using? I can't reproduce this, and I think > I fixed this before. If it's fixed it's even better. Let me know if you want me to try with a more recent or different snapshot. I think that this one was with latest_tree. I get the same problem when bootstrapping with latest_tree. It appears to be using an improper directory structure. From Paweł's log it is trying to copy the Changelog file without adding the proper prefix to the dir. Thus: /Volumes/gentoo-prefix/var/tmp/portage/sys-apps/help2man-1.40.4/image/usr/share/doc/help2man-1.40.4///ChangeLog Should probably be: /Volumes/gentoo-prefix/var/tmp/portage/sys-apps/help2man-1.40.4/image/usr/share/doc/help2man-1.40.4//Volumes/gentoo-prefix/ChangeLog The triple slash makes me think there is a misspelled or unset env variable, but being a noob I can't confirm.
This is a bug in dodoc iirc. I think this is caused by removal of the portage version that had this bug fixed, due to some screwup. I just committed a new portage, which means latest_tree tomorrow should bring you a working portage again. At least, so far for the theory. We need to bump the snapshot and fix the instructions for bootstrapping (because of wget) ASAP (that is ASAIHT - As Soon As I Have Time). Sorry.
so old.
