Could we please have an ebuild for the SATA "wiper" tool (which trims SSD's). Download URL: http://sourceforge.net/projects/hdparm/files/ Reproducible: Always
The wiper script is now provided by the `hdparm' ebuild.
Hmmm, I'm not entirely happy: * It goes to /usr/share/doc/hdparm-9.43/wiper/ - That dir is not in the PATH, not even in the PATH of root. - ".../doc/..." is not the path where one would look for a command. Moreover, execute permissions are strictly forbidden in /usr/share/doc. - This path changes with every version of hdparm, which means one has to change its aliases, admin scripts or whatever when hdparm is updated. * It is auto-compressed to wiper.sh.bz2 by emerge, which means it has to be unpacked before being useable.
Reassigning this, cause this is not about new package
Status?
bug 433147 installs the wiper script into the contrib tree bug 444143 explains why this will *not* be installed into $PATH
