Description Alexey Parshin 2003-12-26 14:34:15 UTC
Pilot-link version 0.11.8 doesn't communicate with Palm. On the same dual-boot machine, it works just fine under Solaris (pilot-link 0.11.8), so it should not be the hardware problem.

Are you using a serial or USB port?
Comment 2 Alexey Parshin 2003-12-26 17:16:11 UTC
I'm using /dev/ttyS0
Comment 3 Jason Wever (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-12-27 06:01:47 UTC
OK, by default, Gentoo's inittab has an entry to spawn an agetty listener on /dev/ttyS0 for sparc systems.

See if your /etc/inittab has an uncommented entry for

c0:12345:respawn:/sbin/agetty 9600 ttyS0 vt100

If so, comment it out by putting a # at the beginning of the line, and as root restart the init process with the following command (as root);

/sbin/telinit q

Then try connecting again with pilot-link.

What is the serial port you are trying to use labeled on the back of the machine?

I was able to pilot-link to work on an ultra 5 using the 9 pin serial port (/dev/ttyS1 in linux, serial port b on the back of the machine). Also double check that the user you are attempting to sync with is part of the tty group.

Sorry, I didn't report it right away - I got it working. The comment #3 solves it.

Great, glad to hear it :)
