I saw similar failures with 1.05 and believe this to be fixed in 1.06; could you confirm please?

That's the failure I had with 1.05 that went away with 1.06; it seems rather fragile then...
daemontools-encore-1.10 is in the tree. Please test and report back if this version fixes the problem.

Building daemontools-encore-1.10 still fails the same way. If I run make rts within the remains at /var/tmp/portage/sys-process/daemontools-encore-1.10/work/daemontools-encore-1.10, the check succeeds.
Created attachment 385324 [details, diff] Remove 'softlimit p0 still allows exec' test Removing one specific test (softlimit -p0 still allows exec which runs softlimit -p0 echo ./nonexistent; echo $?) allows me to merge the package.

Tests were moved to src_tests allowing to pass compile phase (https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/commit/sys-process/daemontools-encore?id=1b14c147db4e7d0862cc49fb0c73e1376cf52c20). Closing for now. Please re-open a new bug for the test failure if still present int latest version.
