Teamspeak server gets started via the init script, but because a strange error the init script seems to send the teamspeak daemon a SIGTERM and because of the teamspeak server binary stops. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. echo "media-sound/teamspeak-server-bin" >> /etc/portage/package.unmask 2. echo "media-sound/teamspeak-server-bin" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords 3. emerge -av teamspeak-server-bin 4. /etc/init.d/teamspeak3-server start 5. Look at the generated logfile at /var/log/teamspeak3-server Actual Results: # /etc/init.d/teamspeak3-server start * Caching service dependencies ... [ ok ] * Starting TeamSpeak 3 Server ... This is caused by the exec statement in /usr/sbin/ts3server. Either remove it or fix the Init script. I'll provide patches for this issue later this weekend.
Created attachment 259041 [details, diff] fixes the crash when TS is started via init.d script All I did was removing the exec call from /usr/sbin/ts3server which seemed to cause the crash. In my opinion it is not necessary to use exec, since this script will mainly be called by the init.d script which uses start-stop-daemon and even if it is called via shell a new thread will be spawned. - benjamin
The issue acknowledged. Please add patch to an official ebuild.

Verified the patch. When will this get applied to the official ebuild?
Still valid with teamspeak-server-bin-3.0.5-r1
