Description witr 2003-11-21 09:50:28 UTC
Lacking this dependency, one gets:

ximian-connector-setup: error while loading shared libraries: liblinc.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Comment 1 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-11-21 13:09:52 UTC
You most likely removed linc yourself while a library that is used by ximian-connector still links to it. Rebuild that library (revdep-rebuild is the usual tool to do that).
Comment 2 Mick Semb Wever 2004-01-02 05:48:18 UTC
I hit this one too.
When starting evolution you will get

Cannot activate component
OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_ExchangeStorage_ShellComponent :
The error from the activation system is:
Child process did not give an error message, unknown failure occurred

ximian-connector has no dependancy on linc, so it was never installed via 'emerge ximian-connector'.

I forgot connector is partially a binary isn't it (i don't have it) ?

It might be it needs linc after all, but check out bug #34805 first and make sure the problem described there is not the same as the problem here.

Comment 5 Chris Eller 2004-05-05 07:53:18 UTC
I had the same error and found that connector was dependent on Kerberos4, so I added the krb4 use flag and remerged mit-krb. Problem went away.
Comment 6 Alastair Tse (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-05-06 01:28:42 UTC
this bug has nothing to do with krb .. so i'm not sure what that last comment is about.

anyway, this bug should be closed, i've added the net-libs/linc dep to ximian-connector-1.4.6*
