Description Andreas F 2010-08-29 00:36:34 UTC
I fetched truecrypt as required by emerge
1. download the 6.3a 32 bit Version from http://www.truecrypt.org/pastversions (It doesn't matter if I choose the console or GUI Version, the result is the same)
2. renamed file to: truecrypt-6.3a.tar.gz
3. put the file in /usr/portage/distfiles/truecrypt-6.3a.tar.gz

However at the end the following error message is presented in /var/tmp/portage/app-crypt/truecrypt-6.3a/temp/build.log:
!!! Previously fetched file: 'truecrypt-6.3a.tar.gz'
!!! Reason: Filesize does not match recorded size
!!! Got: 1619086
!!! Expected: 1906146
Refetching... File renamed to '/usr/portage/distfiles/truecrypt-6.3a.tar.gz._checksum_failure_.fQJOYw'

!!! app-crypt/truecrypt-6.3a has fetch restriction turned on.
!!! This probably means that this ebuild's files must be downloaded
!!! manually. See the comments in the ebuild for more information.

^[[32;01m*^[[0m Please download .tar.gz source from:
^[[32;01m*^[[0m http://www.truecrypt.org/downloads2
^[[32;01m*^[[0m Then put the file in /usr/portage/distfiles/truecrypt-6.3a.tar.gz
On a more general note truecrypt 7.0 is already released.
The ebuild script should be updated

Looks like upstream changed the tarball.
It's now a self-extracting archive :-(.
Comment 3 Robin Johnson archtester Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev Security 2010-08-29 03:29:09 UTC
Ok, the actual root problem is that you downloaded the binary version, instead of the source tarball.

And upstream seems to have removed the source tarballs of the old versions from the website.

dragonheart/calchan: any opinions on what to do?
Comment 4 Dane Smith (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-10-16 01:12:43 UTC
These ebuilds have been removed from the tree as of 10/14 as upstream will not support them. Closing.

Version bump wrt bug 329075. Uses new license that was already added.
truecrypt-stop is now executeable. Addresses bug 234618. Checks
CONFIG_CRYPTO_XTS wrt bug 298907. Only warns about the license once. Added
a number of missing || die. Thanks Eray Aslan for much of the ebuild
clean-up! Also removes all old versions as upstream will no longer provide
  sources for any of them.
