When you logout of gnome it presents a dialog asking if I want to logout, shutdown or restart. (also asks if you want to save the session). However, whichever option one selects, it always logs out, returning you to the GDM login screen. (Of course, from the GDM login screen you can shutdown or restart.) this should've been patched in 2.4.0 to remove that dialog, could you try remerging gnome-session-2.4.0 please ? Thanks.
i agree with obz.. we dont support shutting down by the session by default, we leave it as an excercise to the user if they want to have it that way. The dialog showing should not have happened, that was a mistake in an ebuild for a while. closing...
