ppc stable
Comment 2 Andreas Schürch gentoo-dev 2010-05-06 13:03:12 UTC
It compiles and boots, but somehow it's unable to find and mount my root!?
But the disk and fs-modules are in-kernel (the box boots even without an initrd at all!!).
I can't tell if this is a regression, as the current stable don't even compile...
Maybe i am doing something wrong!?
mkinitrd /boot/testinitrd `uname -r`

yeah, I have no idea either. mkinitrd is not really maintained in gentoo at the moment, see bug 181685 (and other mkinitrd bugs). all I know this is the only version left in tree that compiles, either:

- mark it stable
- drop your stable keywords
- better yet, go for bug 181685 and start maintaining it

;)

I personally would take the second choice, as there is genkernel which produces some very nice initrd's and dracut, which has a gsoc project to port it to gentoo and it is the official replacement of mkinitrd! ;-)

Andreas, could you check if actual stable version the same?

Thanks

bug 324741, mkinitrd is going away in favour of dracut
