Confirming, I have this issue as well.
same problem here
Working now with nvidia-drivers-195.36.03
Just wondering but is this a similar issue to bug 306769?

(In reply to comment #3) > Working now with nvidia-drivers-195.36.03 Now my system wants to downgrade to 195.30 which of course still fails whereas, as reported, 195.36.03 installs (and works here). We're over 5 weeks old on this bug now.
Portage also wants to downgrade my nvidia-drivers from 195.36.03 to 195.30, likely because of this notice from nVidia; http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/announcement.php?f=14 I was not able to emerge the 195.30 drivers by reusing the patch from this similar Gentoo bug report; http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=301318 However, I was able to emerge the 195.30 drivers by applying the patch from this post; http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=2147179&postcount=5

I'm sticking with 195.36.03 until an upgrade is released. Apparently it's spinning some fans too much, but I have a fanless card :) Nothing has fried yet.
Created attachment 223829 [details] Ebuild that applies the patch Jason found
Created attachment 223831 [details, diff] Copy of the aforementioned patch

For 2.6.33, please use 195.36.x series which is officially supported.
