Just synced, and got this error:

home ~ # emerge -uDNa world

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

I've tried to unmerge cryptoloop (I don't use it), but that doesn't helps - it was automatically included to install again (probably it's part of system or dependency of other packets).

It looks like broken dependencies here:
- sys-fs/cryptsetup-1.0.6-r2 depends on both ">=sys-fs/device-mapper-1.00.07-r1" and ">=sys-fs/udev-124"
- sys-fs/device-mapper-1.02.24-r1 depends on "!<sys-fs/udev-115-r1"
- sys-fs/udev-146-r1 depends on "!sys-fs/device-mapper"

It looks like cryptsetup may depends on lvm2 instead of device-mapper, so maybe replacing device-mapper with lvm2 will works as workaround, but... I don't actually need all this crap except udev, so I'm not sure what's better to do.

Reproducible: Always

Comment 1 Rafał Mużyło 2009-11-09 16:57:55 UTC
device-mapper was merged upstream into lvm2.
Emerge a recent lvm2, it will automatically
unmerge old device-mapper.

Really? I've got the same problem.

# emerge -p lvm2

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Comment 3 Michal Špondr 2009-11-10 14:09:32 UTC
And if I remove the device-mapper and run revdep-rebuild, I got long output of errors related to e2fsprogs, which seems to be the same problem as in bug 292622.
Comment 4 Alex Efros 2009-11-10 14:34:01 UTC
for me, unmerging device-mapper solved issue (emerge -uDNa world has installed cryptsetup and lvm2)
Comment 5 Michal Špondr 2009-11-10 15:04:58 UTC
I had to do it in three steps:

emerge -C device-mapper
emerge -uDN e2fsprogs
emerge -uDN world

Yes, I had to update e2fsprogs first, because emerge -uDN world complains about blocking. Now it is hopefully updated.
