Failure to launch X-windows system with startx when booting with NOX option.
Failing to run X-windows when booting without NOX option.

Could you try this iso;
http://gentoo.mneisen.org/releases/x86/10.0/livedvd-x86-amd64-32ul-10.0.iso
and boot with gentoo64

10.1 is out with bug fixes, please test.

Is this with 10.1 iso?

The 10.1 iso livedvd works very well as a livedvd, but I can not seem to find any way to install it onto a partition.

The 10.1 version is only a live dvd there is no installer on it. A future version *MAY* include some instructions. I am going to close this bug, please reopen if this issue becomes a problem again and open additional bugs if you run across anything else. Thanks for reporting
