When I try to start vmware-server-console I get the following error: /opt/vmware/server/console/lib/bin/vmware-server-console: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libgio-2.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_thread_gettime I tried re-emerging glib, but to no avail.
What version is affected? Also, please paste emerge --info output

If anyone hits this and needs a workaround until it is sorted out, you can use the binary libs that are packaged with vmware-server-console by doing the following VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_GTK="force" vmware-server-console This is not ideal, but it steps around the problem if you need to run the console

Same happens on amd64 after updating app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-baselibs to 20100220.

There is still no resolution ? I hit the same problem right now ...
I believe the best workaround for this is the following: VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_GTK=”force” vmware-server-console Not a real fix, but at least you can run the program.
vmware server was removed from the tree. Bug 354383.
