New stable version of sane-backends released 03/May/2009 as ver 1.0.20.
Latest version in portage is 1.0.19-r2.

Reproducible: Always

Actual Results:  
media-gfx/sane-backends-1.0.19-r2

Expected Results:  
media-gfx/sane-backends-1.0.20

Thanks for the hint, I also read the sane-announce list. My spare time is very limited, so this can take a bit time especially because I want to address a few other issues with the ebuild with this release. Please be patient.

I made quite some progress in the last hours, should be a matter of days. Please be warned that the new version breaks at least xsane, I did not yet check other frontends.

Good to hear. I'll try and test ASAP, I don't use xsane and scan from CLI anyway.

xsane and sane-frontends were easily patched, if nobody on -dev objects I will commit the ebuild for 1.0.20 tomorrow.
