Description Robert Crawford 2009-04-20 14:21:59 UTC
What's the problem with trying to update GDM and it not recognizing png? Nothing on Bugzilla, the forum, or google I can find.

The older 2.20.9-r1 installed version of GDM still works for login, sessions, but complains when it opens and has to revert to a generic splash screen, not the default "Flower" theme it was using. World is up-to-date.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge gdm
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Code:

so you're saying currently installed gdm is also broken, right ? If so, could you just rebuild libpng ?

No, not really- just that it couldn't use the png based theme, and used the generic theme, and I could't update to gdm-2.20.10. However, on a reboot today into the amd64 Gentoo kde-svn partition where I was having the problem, the regular png theme was back, evne though I had done nothing but reboot (which I had also done previously, and did NOT get the png theme. Very curious.

I then rebuilt libpng, and then emerge gdm worked fine, and I did not have the docbook problem (bug 266858) mentioned on the other bug report I filed. Apparently, rebuilding libpng fixed everything, as I have not synced since I had the 2.2.0.10 compiling failure. Thanks much!

ok. Well then feel free to reopen if you come accross this bug again. Thanks for reporting.
