Backtrace of KDE crash handler
Comment 2 mren 2009-04-17 16:38:09 UTC
same here, although amarok-2.0.2 (copied the 2.0.1.1 ebuild to 2.0.2) worked before. After updating to -r1 amarok crashes even if I downgrade to 2.0.2
Comment 3 Paul Monsour 2009-04-17 17:18:19 UTC
Yes, I tried reinstalling the 2.0.1.1 ebuild when 2.0.2-r1 didn't work, but now it won't even build, let alone start (I updated all of the new KDE files available this week; I assume that's why the 2.0.1.1 ebuild doesn't install).

Comment 4 Paul Monsour 2009-04-18 11:34:36 UTC
Deleted all configuration files for amarok and reinstalled mysql, and now amarok starts and plays music, but it won't scan my collection. It goes through the motions of scanning with the thermometer measuring its process, but when the process is done, alas, nothing has happened.

What version of mysql/mysql-community, what amarok version, what arch and did you use the -fPIC hack or not?

Using mysql-5.0.76-r1, no mysql-community is installed, amarok-2.0.2-r1, arch amd64, and I tried both with and without -fPIC. I have now uninstalled -fPIC.

Comment 7 François Valenduc 2009-04-19 16:27:05 UTC
I confirm the problem too. Removing all amarok config files solves the crash at startup. However, after that the scanning process reach 100%, my music collection is still empty.
Comment 8 François Valenduc 2009-04-19 18:48:48 UTC
After reading the comments on bug #266071, I downgrade mysql to 5.0.70-r1 and modified the ebuild to make amarok 2.0.2-r1 depends on this version of mysql. That solves the problem of the empty music collection.
Comment 9 Paul Monsour 2009-04-20 14:27:05 UTC
Thanks, François. Your editing-the-ebuild trick worked. Now I have my collection once again. Fortunately, I'm not using mysql for anything else, so as long as amarok is up and running, I'm a happy guy. If anyone is interested in the edited ebuild and how to use the -fPIC and -DPIC flags, let me know.
Comment 10 mren 2009-04-23 11:23:37 UTC
2.0.2-r2 works again, thx
Comment 11 Jorge Manuel B. S. Vicetto (RETIRED) Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev 2009-04-23 11:41:29 UTC
I'm closing the amarok-2.0.2 bug reports as it seems to be finally working.
The 2.0.2 bump bug will stay open until I test the patch for lastfm.
