This can be done after new ffmpeg goes stable. I'm requesting it now, because it has been requested by users before but we had to decline cause of the ffmpeg situation. I'm also using it myself, and it works great. Also, media-video/kino can make a use of it using it's own scripts, so it adds extra functionality. Please do. After FFMPEG in bug #245285.
Has automagic dep. on libkate, closing as LATER

Note that I didn't use the more standard "with-libkate" or "enable-withkate" syntax as the scons option parsing doesn't like hyphons. An ebuild making use of this follows...

Note that a new version of ffmpeg2theora, 0.23, has recently been released, and the above patch & modifications to this ebuild work fine with it.
Can you reopen and stabilize ffmpeg2theora 0.25 now please? The automagic libkate dependency is fixed upstream in this version, and the stable ffmpeg works fine with it, as does the stable libtheora.
