Sup is a console mail client made for large amounts of email, written in Ruby. It has been requested multiple times in varius places. At the moment this ebuild fails due to an already reported bug with ncurses-ruby not using a gem. The package requires trollop which is in another bug as well (I am submitting an ebuild there as well). If the primary issue is fixed and the other package is moved into portage, this should work perfectly (it did for me when using ncurses-ruby from a gem). Reproducible: Always

To build this package at the moment requires running "gem install ncurses" after the build fails, due to bug 196036. When that bug is fixed this package and dependencies should build cleanly.
I've just added dev-ruby/ncurses-1.2.3-r1 to the tree which installs a gemspec file and should also work with gems.
I've just added mail-client/sup-0.8.1 to my overlay graaff.
I just wanted to ask about the status of this package. I really like it, but the version from the graaff overlay is quite old by now. Could you perhaps update the version in the overlay or even add it to the tree? Also, I seem to suffer from the UTF-8 problem described in the wiki here: http://sup.rubyforge.org/wiki/wiki.pl?UTF8 Perhaps there is a way to include this procedure into the ebuild (with a use flag?). It may also be that this problem is already fixed in the latest sup version. It would be great if someone had time for this! Thanks in advance!
Unfortunately I came to the conclusion that sup isn't for me, so I've been considering removing the ebuilds from my overlay. I certainly won't be updating them, given my Gentoo workload. If someone wants to put some effort into this we could arrange for these ebuilds to move to the ruby overlay and provide you with access to that. That could be a step towards moving them into the tree proper.
