Description da-gentoobugs-16 2008-10-30 18:41:56 UTC
I just spend about 30minutes trying to figure out why after installing kicker-applets I don't have the sound mixer applet installed. This is an important applet and should be part of the kicker-applets package. It is installed only with kde-base/kmix. This not very logical, since kmix is not an applet and only creates a tray icon in kicker and offers a dedicated window for its mixing functions. So there is no connection between "I want the sound mixer applet" and "I install the kmix package."

If chaning this is not possible then there should be at least a post-emerge message for kicker-applets telling where other important applets can be found. As I said I consider a volume mixer as one of the most important applets.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.)Install kicker-applets
2.)Find no sound mixer applet when trying to add applets to kicker.

Sorry we are no longer messing with 3.5 packages this way.
If you create patch fixing the behaviour the way you want it feel free to reopen it and we will most probably apply it, otherwise kde3 is in maintaining-only mode.
