Using "emerge wine", the file is downloaded, the configuration completes, then the build dies with the message below. I will keep playing around to see if I can make it work locally, but I imagine you guys want to fix this out of the box. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open terminal window 2. Switch to superuser 3. Good, now read what you've posted and follow those suggestions.

Created attachment 163494 [details] Build.log from app-emulation/wine-1.1.2 Build.log as requested.
That's better. Now, add config.log, please. Check also what `ls -l /usr/lib/libGL.so` and `eselect opengl list` prints.
I fixed the issue by adding "-opengl" to the use flags (opengl is in my make.conf). The problem arose from a lack of openGL libraries in my system... should an openGL library be made a dependency when the opengl USE flag is present? I apologize for not catching this before anyone invested time into it. Thanks for your help.
# ls -l /usr/lib/libGL.so lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 8 Aug 20 11:26 /usr/lib/libGL.so -> libGL.so # eselect opengl list Available OpenGL implementations: [1] xorg-x11 *
Something must be broken on your system, wine does have virtual/opengl in dependencies and on my system with xorg-x11 selected /usr/lib/libGL.so points to /usr/lib/opengl/xorg-x11/lib/libGL.so.
Please attach the config.log or close this bug report. It's reminiscent of a few other eselect-opengl bugs, mainly bug #228547 and bug #233835, but we can't be certain without the config.log.
Well, I've seen many similar problems on the forums, it's not a recent problem, it may date even over a year back. It seems that that sometimes, I think during an emerge of a package, 'eselect opengl' is run, but when the emerge is interrupted, opengl implementation is not reset. If you have two opengl implementations, you can fix it by switching to different one and then changing back, but it seems that if you have only one, you get stuck.
