Description Michele Caini 2008-07-25 15:08:58 UTC
After kernel upgrade from 2.6.25-r4 to 2.6.26 I'm not able to compile virtualbox-modules. This is the result:

Maybe this can help: http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/1263
It seems to be the answer, of course. I've to try that...

virtualbox-modules-1.5.4 patch for kernel 2.6.26

This is the suggested patch on virtualbox related site.
It seems to work fine.
Comment 5 Michele Caini 2008-07-27 13:08:32 UTC
Above suggested patch work fine and solve the problem.
Switch to the newer version also seems to be a solution.
I think the bug is fixed. Do you think so? ;-)

Hi,
the problem is the same described in bug #218198,
a workaround is possible but unsafe due the several api changes
in kernels >=2.6.25.

Are you using VirtualBox-1.5.4 for some specific reason?
my suggestion is to try/use the last version available (1.6.2)

I'm using version 1.5.4 because that is the stable version. That's all. ;-)
Using proposed patch all works fine, but of course it is only a workaround and (maybe) unsafe solution. Anymore, actually it seems to be the better one.
