The LiveCD 1.4_RC4 does not support 3C940-MV00 Gigabit LOM by 3Com, Inc.
File 3c2000.o is not present in kernel modules for drivers/net.
This will prevent auto-detection of the network, required for Gentoo
installation.
This driver can only be compiled with kernel sources, which also is not 
included with 1.4_RC4 LiveCD x86 install.
The driver can be downloaded at;
