The various components of app-office/openoffice-2.4.1 crash at startup or during use. After typing the related command (please see below), (1) the message "libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x4b" first appears, (2) the OpenOffice greeting window (logo) is displayed and (3) the following behaviour is as follows : 1) oocalc : crashes upon window resizing; 2) oodraw : crashes as the main window appears; 3) ooimpress : crashes upon selecting a menu; 4) oowriter : crashes as the main window appears; 5) ooffice : crashes as the main window appears. No other message (error or not) is displayed. Removing and reinstalling OpenOffice did not solve the problem ; removing the directory .ooo-2.0/ did not help either. Please also note that app-office/openoffice-2.4.0 did work properly. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Type a command (oocalc, oodraw, ooimpress, oowriter or ooffice). 2.Wait, resize a window or select a menu. 3. Actual Results: OpenOffice crashes without producing any error messages. Expected Results: The main window should appear ; resizing the window or selecting a menu should not cause a crash. Which video driver are you using? Is it reproducible with the plain vesa driver?
Please reopen this bug when you have tested whether the suggestion in comment #1 works around the problem. It may also help to provide the output of emerge -vp app-office/openoffice
Could this be the same crash as described in http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-5128367.html How about the resolution to set 'OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=none' described in the thread?
(In reply to comment #3) > Could this be the same crash as described in > http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-5128367.html > > How about the resolution to set 'OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP=none' described in the > thread? > The crash does not take place upon quitting, but the suggested workaround (with the environment variable OOO_FORCE_DESKTOP set to either "none" or "gnome") indeed works. In response to the previous questions, I have a RADEON 9200 SE video card ; as a result, I use the RADEON driver provided in the kernel. Using a plain VESA driver also allows to avoid crashes.
