Description Justin Peacock 2008-05-31 21:56:52 UTC
Burned LiveDVD, ran installer, shortly after setting mount points install fails.
Used recommended default partition scheme.
Attempted twice in each (GLI and CLI).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Run Installer from DVD (GLI or CLI)
2.Use default partitioning scheme.
3.Wait for error.

Actual Results:
Installer reports installation failure, refers me to several files, one of which was non-existent ( profile something).

Expected Results:
Unpacked tarball, copied tarball (where install failed), continued with install.

I have the same problem. I suspect this is a duplicate of this bug: 215798. I've been looking into it a little bit, and I'll soon post some information to bug #215798.

From the output you posted in the other bug, it looks like this has nothing to do with the installer. It mentions a read-only filesystem, which happens if you specified 'ro' in the mount options or if you've got hardware issues.

The read-only file system is the Live install DVD. Although / is writable, /var/db is a symlink to /usr/livecd/db, which is a read-only file system (/usr is a symlink to /mnt/livecd).
