Is it another reason than legacy reasons that named the USE-flag "jabber"? Since 2007 XMPP has been the name of the standard and documentations (including the release notes [1]) mostly refers to XMPP. The most other programs does the same (also loudmouth, used by abiword, refers to itself as a XMPP library). This I think can make it somewhat confusing for people that do not know that jabber and XMPP is (at least in this context) the same thing.
(In reply to comment #0) > Is it another reason than legacy reasons that named the USE-flag "jabber"? Likely not. gnome-office team, if you think it's worth changing, please create a tracker bug, so all packages using this use flag get modified accordingly.
this is to be discussed on gentoo-dev mailing list.
bah, nobody seems to care that much either way so I think we are going to do it.
preparing for tracker.
Any action here?
This is the list of affected packages (and then, I think this shouldn't be assigned to gnome-office but to qa instead as this is a more "general" issue, like was done for bug #198901). $ equery hasuse jabber -p FEATURES variable contains unknown value(s): autoaddcvs, cvs * Searching for USE flag jabber ... Is there any action to be taken? I'd be happy to update net-im/ekg2 as soon as 'xmpp' global flag is introduced. However, it might be also a good idea to discuss introducing 'USE moves' in profiles/updates.
Added xmpp description. Updated kopete usage. Current users, so if anyone from QA is bored they can migrate, and we should open blockers onto this tracker...
