I was asked in bug 207364 to open a separate bug, so here it is. After app-pda/pilot-link-0.12.3 went stable, Depgraph creation fails when app-pda/multisync-0.83_pre20050414-r4 is installed. For the moment, it is fine for me to mask this version, but I don't know when masking will prevent major updates on my box. It's so old (and unmaintained now) that it won't ever work with a newer version of pilot-link. Thus, I made it depend on 0.11.8.
