Description Patrizio Bassi 2007-11-24 10:42:25 UTC
after fixing bug#181411

we have emul version of qt3 and qt4.

can the shared version of skype be enabled on amd64 as well?

at the moment
 [ebuild R ] net-im/skype-2.0.0.13-r1 USE="(qt-static)" 0 kB
Comment 1 Patrizio Bassi 2008-09-19 21:45:02 UTC
ping :)

qt4 is a reality now..
Comment 2 jlh 2008-10-24 00:42:33 UTC
I'd really like this too, because my Skype Call Recorder (in sunrise) only works if Skype can use DBus, which isn't the case with the static version.
Comment 3 jlh 2008-10-25 23:08:23 UTC
FWIW... this seems to be pretty trivial to do. I just modified app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-qtlibs using this patch:
	-NEEDED="(libDCOP.so|libkdecore.so|libkdefx.so|libqt-mt.so|libqt.so|libqui.so)"
+NEEDED="(libDCOP.so|libkdecore.so|libkdefx.so|libqt-mt.so|libqt.so|libqui.so|/usr/lib32/qt4)"

This makes it install the Qt 4 libs along with the Qt 3 libs. Then I removed the forced 'qt-static' of Skype and reemerged it... works like a charm and Skype Call Recorder can connect to it via DBus.

yes actually it's just a keywording.....it's really easy to do it...

Last I checked, our current qtlibs was in terrible shape and still depends on arts, until we fix this, there is no point in going forward with this.
Comment 6 Juanlu Pérez 2009-01-20 15:51:54 UTC
Why does emul-linux-x86-qtlibs check if emul-linux-x86-soundlibs has arts USE flag? Was emul-linux-x86-qtlibs compiled with arts support? In case, would it be possible to build an emul-linux-x86-qtlibs with no arts support?

jlh on comment #3 told that he just added qt4 files in emul-linux-x86-qtlibs, removed qt-static from skypeand it worked from him. So, what's the problem about dependencies on arts?

I'm also interested on adding dbus support in skype, i'll do this by myself but it would be nice to have this done by portage.

What would we need to do?

Any news on this one?
Comment 8 subscryer 2009-08-16 16:21:30 UTC
This would allow us to use the kopete skype plugin in amd64.
Comment 9 Patrizio Bassi 2009-11-01 20:15:19 UTC
i do think that emul package for qt should contain the 32bit version of qt4 too! any progress here?
Comment 10 Martin Vala 2009-12-02 13:29:24 UTC
any news on skype and kopete?
Comment 11 Jeremy Gove 2009-12-06 03:39:47 UTC
I did what jlh suggested in comment three, and it seemed to work for me, at least getting rid of the qt-static USE flag. Mind that I'm not very experienced at editing ebuilds, but it seems to work.
Comment 12 jlh 2009-12-27 11:28:38 UTC
FYI, app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-qtlibs includes the Qt4 libs starting with version 20091226. Currently this version is still masked, but it works fine with skype for me. As soon as it's stable, skype can be shared on amd64.
Comment 13 Patrizio Bassi 2009-12-28 13:14:43 UTC
i'm using emul-qt4 and shared skype works like a charm.

This is fixed with emul- 20091231 and Skype 2.1.0.47.

Many thanks for that but it would also be nice to have it for the stable Skype as well (2,0,72).
