I'd like to see the cxacru firmware (I can give a copy to you) in the next media release. It doesn't need much space, and is needed for the Conexant AccessRunner USB ADSL Modem to work. Expected Results: Let me configure the br2864 bridge. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Have a Conexant AccessRunner USB ADSL Modem Actual Results: I have to load the firmware manually from another media (eg. usb stick, floppy) into /lib/firmware (that luckily is writeable!) Expected Results: The firmware was already in /lib/firmware and it was loaded automatically in the modem as soon as I plugged it.

You'll need to get this firmware built into an ebuild and added to the tree, first. We only add packages from our tree, otherwise people will get an inconsistent experience (it worked on the CD, but not Gentoo proper) with Gentoo. Please file a separate bug for the ebuild for this firmware and set it as a blocker for this bug.
Unfortunately, we'll be unable to provide this firmware, as it has to be extracted from a proprietary source and isn't provided under an open source license or another license that allows redistribution.
