A new gspcav1 version was released 24 Dec 2007, seems that upstream is active again :-), maybe you should try again to ask him for this problem if it's still affecting to you with latest gspcav1-20071224 ...
a friend found a recent patch for it: http://helllabs.org/patch/20080203_gspca/ the first patch must be aplied before the second one in order to work should i attach them?

I tried to test it but I wasn't able to do it: *ekiga 3.1 doesn't compile *cheese doesn't detect my camera *mplayer tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:width=320:height=240:device=/dev/video0 doesn't work *mplayer tv:// -tv driver=v4l:width=320:height=240:device=/dev/video0 has a flipped image but it's also shifted and green
