Description Christian Plessl 2003-03-20 03:49:21 UTC
Im currently upgrading my gentoo 1.2 installation to 1.4 as described in the document:
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/new-upgrade-to-gentoo-1.4.xml

Problems arise, when I recompile world with the new compiler/toolchain.

emerge -e world fails, due to errors while emerging docbook-sgml-utils-0.6.11-r2.

The problem seems to be identical to Bug #15407, but the situation where it shows up is
much worse. I'm stuck with a only halfway upgraded system.

I figured out, how the problem can be fixed. It is similar to bug #15435, and can
be fixed as explained in:

  http://www.gentoo.org/~satai/sgmlfix.html

After applying the sgmlfix first, the upgrade (emerge -e world) was successfull.

I think we should add a comment on this to the Gentoo 1.2 -1.4 upgrade guide.
