Rosegarden version numbers used to be prefixed with "4." (e.g. 4.1.0). This has now changed - the latest version is 1.2.0 (if the old versioning scheme was still in use, it would be 4.1.2.0). In other words, the older "rosegarden-4.*" ebuilds have higher version numbers than the newer ones. IMHO the Rosegarden ebuild version numbers should reflect this change, so "emerge rosegarden" (with the appropriate keywords) will install the latest version.
Tell upstream that 4 > 1 and their versioning change is completely retarded. Nothing we could do until the 1.x series gets stabilized and the other ebuilds removed.

This is not a rosegarden problem. The version number didn't have a 4 before it. The name of the program seemed to be Rosegarden4 and that's what changed. So, in reality, Gentoo people should just change the ebuilds, or otherwise are probably confusing a lot of users.
