Please, attach the xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log here. Don't refer to links that expire in couple of days and make the bug useless.

It works about 1-2 minutes, if you don't do anything. If you start for example firefox, system freezes, only mouse works and screen is screwed or something..

I think this is bug in savage driver
Comment 5 Eero Volotinen 2006-09-11 15:35:46 UTC
This works fine with xorg 6.8-something, version to that I changed to get work done at company.

> (EE) Failed to load module "synaptics" (module does not exist, 0)

For one thing, you'll need to re-emerge the synaptics driver after emerging 7.0.

> (EE) SAVAGE(0): DRI isn't enabled

If X still doesn't start, add 'Option "NoAccel" "true"' to your savage config and try again.
Comment 7 Joshua Baergen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-09-24 10:05:34 UTC
Let us know when you've tried the suggestions in comment #6.

Note to self: looks like https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6357 may be related to this.
Comment 9 Eero Volotinen 2006-10-01 14:50:34 UTC
'Option "NoAccel" "true"' fixes problem, but video input is slow?

I am using xorg-x11 and latest masked savage driver from portage

xorg-config-works.
Comment 11 Eero Volotinen 2006-10-01 15:01:37 UTC
NOT WORKING EVEN WITH NOACCEL option, I was tired and used wrong driver.
Vesa works at least .. but it is very very slow..
Comment 12 Eero Volotinen 2006-10-01 23:49:54 UTC
Just tested, the same bug is in ubuntu.
Comment 13 Eero Volotinen 2006-10-02 01:57:16 UTC
Looks like upstream bug, can someone report it to upstream?
Comment 14 Eero Volotinen 2006-10-02 08:55:07 UTC
Looks like this works if using vanilla kernel 2.6.18 and it integrated dri
stuff.

Comment 15 Eero Volotinen 2006-10-02 20:55:30 UTC
works.
